IV Infusion Therapy

The Orthopedic Center, under the supervision of Mary B. Burgoyne, M.D., offers IV Infusion therapy to patients with chronic conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Psoriasis, Ankylosing Sondylitis, Ulcerative Colitis, and Crohns.

Only a physician can recommend IV Infusion therapy as a course of treatment after checking your health condition. Once this assessment has been made the actual infusion process is simple. Drugs used include Remicade, Rituximab, and Orencia.

IV infusionA nurse will check your blood pressure, pulse, and temperature before they begin your infusion.  The nurse will insert a narrow IV needle into your arm after you have been comfortably seated.  You may feel a slight pinching sensation when the IV is being place, but only for a second.  The infusion will begin and a nurse will monitor you at regular intervals.  During this time, you can relax, read a book, watch TV or listen to music.

Drug companies offer patient financial assistance programs such as Access One for Remicade patients, Access Solutions for Rituximab patients, and the Promise Program for Orencia patients.
