Richard J. Mason, M.D., a graduate of Temple University School of
Medicine, completed his internship in general surgery at Portsmouth
Naval Hospital He completed Flight Surgery Training at the Naval
Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida, and served as
Head Flight Surgeon for a United States Marine Corps combat helicopter
squadron during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Dr. Mason completed
his residency in orthopedic surgery at Naval Regional Medical Center
in Portsmouth, Virginia.
He went on to complete an orthopedic sports medicine Fellowship
at Hahnemann and Graduate Hospitals in Philadelphia where he was
an assistant team physician for three professional sports teams.
Dr. Mason's particular interest is in using advanced arthroscopic
techniques to manage injuries of the shoulder and knee. He currently
holds a faculty position as a clinical instructor in Orthopedics
at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Dr. Mason is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He is a fellow
of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), a member
of the Maryland Orthopaedic Association (MOA), the Maryland Medical & Chirurgical Faculty (MedChi), The Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).
Dr. Mason has served as the Chief of Orthopedics for Memorial Hospital at Easton. Currently he is the Medical Director for the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Easton.
